Douglas Pate
Douglas Pate

Douglas holds an Engineering Honours Degree from Bath University, studying part of the course in French. He began in the steel industry, moved to oil and then to IT with Olivetti. IT was the stepping stone to Leningrad in 1989 where he built a multi-dimensional British-Soviet Joint Venture “Astrelle” which became one of the first three IBM PC registered dealers in the former Soviet Union.

His career path took him in Denmark where he started one of ultimately the most successful distributors of high quality professional hair products in Scandinavia. He arrived in Barcelona in the late ‘90s staying in the high quality beauty product business and set up a nationwide distribution company.

Douglas has been actively involved in competitive sport. Although an extremely competent golfer he became President of the Danish Australian Football League (1995), has represented GB, Denmark, Catalunya and Andorra and has coached the Catalunya and Andorra Australian Rules Football selections to European Championships. Douglas is the Australian Rules Football umpire with most European Championships (8) to his credit. In 2014 in London was awarded the role of umpiring the Women’s European Final.

He is currently the Ambassador for Sports (CEA) for Andorra and International Liaison Officer for the Andorran Cycling Federation.
